JUNE 30, 2008 | To get carded
To get carded means to be asked for ID (identification), so as to ensure you're old enough to enter a bar, to buy alcohol, cigarettes, etc. People usually get carded (asked for ID) when they look like they could be younger than the minimum age to do something. In the United States bars face very steep ( = high) fines if they serve alcohol to minors, so some bars (especially ones that have a young clientele) have a policy of carding all patrons.
Some people get offended when they get carded, while others are flattered when someone assumes that they look young. ESL BLOG HOME
