MARCH 4, 2008 | Person, persons, people
The plural form of "person" is "people". "Persons" is only used on legal (or other formal) documents, to refer to the "individuals that make up a group" instead of the group itself. This might sound a little confusing, but don't worry - Just remember that "persons" is very formal and is not used in most everyday situations.
Examples:
"There were 10,000 people at the show last night".
"There's only
one person that I would like to see."
"The family filed a missing persons report" (this is a legal police document)
"How many people can this elevator hold?"
